Spring flowers in Northern Greece

Spring in all its glory

Spring is arguably the best time to be in Greece - a combination of warm sun and vibrant colours, as yet unscorched by the heat of the summer months. Birdsong is in the air, the countryside is home to abundant small wildlife, from darting green lizards sunning themselves and voles scuttling through the long grass, to tortoises lumbering sedately through the undergrowth. The pictures taken below were shot near Lake Doirani, which straddles the border between Greece and Macedonia, on May 21st 2006. Each picture is available as a thumbnail (as seen below), a larger version, available by clicking directly on the picture, and the original shot - eight megapixels, approximately 3MB in size and in some cases not rotated, so as to maintain the original size. You are welcome to download and use freely any pictures on this webpage that take your fancy.
